The word palliative comes from the Latin word palliare, which means “to cover, relieve, or ease suffering.” Palliative care began with hospice services established in London and Ireland during the 19th century, initially focusing on providing comfort and support for people at the end of life.
In the past, palliative care was mainly available for patients with terminal cancer. Today, it has evolved into a broader approach to care that benefits people of all ages who are living with serious or chronic illnesses. The goal of palliative care is to reduce suffering, manage symptoms, and improve comfort and quality of life.
World Palliative Care Day is observed on the second Saturday of October each year. In Kerala, Palliative Care Day is observed on January 15, highlighting the importance of compassionate care and community support for people living with illness.
For this purpose, we have a dedicated team of trained and experienced professionals including nurses, auxiliary nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, and psychologists. Our team is committed to delivering compassionate, professional, and patient-centered care to improve the quality of life of those who need support at home.
Living with a serious illness, or even a temporary health condition, can affect many aspects of life including physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, and daily living. At Healix Palliative Care, we understand these challenges and are committed to supporting patients of all ages and at every stage of illness, along with their families. Our goal is to address physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs while improving overall quality of life.
Our care is centered around your individual needs, personal values, and treatment goals. We work closely with patients and families to ease the multiple challenges that often accompany illness, providing compassionate and professional support throughout the care journey.
Healix Palliative Care services are designed to complement the medical treatment you are already receiving from your doctor. All our services are delivered in the comfort and privacy of the patient’s home, ensuring personalized and convenient care.
Our experienced multidisciplinary team remains available for as long as the care is beneficial to the patient. We do not place limits on the number of visits, as our priority is to provide the right support when it is needed most.
It is important to note that Healix Palliative Care does not function as a hospital or clinical facility. Instead, we offer professional home-based care services that are available at any stage of illness, not only for those with terminal conditions.
We strive to reduce stress and provide reassurance for both patients and their families. For individuals living with life-changing health conditions, our mission is to enhance comfort, support recovery where possible, and promote overall health and well-being with dignity and compassion.
Our services are delivered by a compassionate, multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, and mental health specialists.
